Wearing: Suki + Solaine Flutter Hem Dress

Suki + Solaine is the Chicago brand you need to know about. Founded by Creative Director Brandi Archer and designer Nicole Puszynski. This Flutter Hem Dress from their Summer ’16 collection is so comfortable and perfect to dress up or down for any occasion. I paired it with a bomber and lace-up heels, but for an even more casual look pair it with sneakers. Want to shop the collection? Shop online or check out where to buy here!

The Most Flattering & Affordable One-Pieces

One-piece- Victoria’s Secret Crochet Monokini

Let’s say one-pieces are probably the most flattering swimsuits right now, but some can be a little much with tons of cutouts and unflattering silhouettes. I’m all about the one-piece and definitely prefer it over a two-piece. I’ve picked out some of the most flattering and affordable one-pieces for you guys to shop below!

Met Gala 2016

image

(top 3 favs: Poppy Delevingne in Marchesa, Karlie Kloss in Brandon Maxwell, & Ciara in HM)

It’s another red carpet event that we wait all year for.. the Met Gala! The most anticipated fashion event where celebrities can pretty much take a risk and have fun with fashion. We see the most beautiful gowns by designers alongside their muse for the night. This year the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced their theme for next year’s costume exhibition: “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” It will focus on hand made haute couture and machine made fashion.  There were a lot of stunning looks this year and surprising worst (SJP…).  I’ve rounded up all of my favorite looks, along with the worst dressed of the night. Check out all the red carpet looks below!

All About Mules for Spring

For today’s #TrendTuesday, mules/slides are the must have shoe for spring. Even though it may not feel like spring yet here in Chicago, we can still dream about wearing these right? There are so many amazing styles to shop- flat slides, heels, pointy-toe, open-toe, leather, fringe, tortoise, embellished, and suede. I’ve picked out all my favorite slides/mules to shop below!

The Must Have Color For Spring

image

This color is a major trend right now and also my new favorite color. The blush pink (also known as a dusty pink or rose) is such a pretty tone for all skin types. Blush has been seen on the Balmain runway (Gigi’s ootd) and at Stella McCartney. This color is the one you need to add to your closet for spring. Shop more blush below!

The New Denim Cut

Raw hem, crop, and flare are all the details that make up the new denim trend. The cropped kick flare denim have been seen on many street style goers during fashion month, and also a great piece to transition into spring. Styling tip: These pants are the best way to show off your shoes, so make sure to wear a killer pair of statement boots or heels. Find out more on how to style the trend and shop the perfect pair below!

Oscars Red Carpet

image

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for- the OSCARS. We all anticipate what the stars will be wearing on the red carpet, although it is the most important part of the show (and Leo of course). It was so hard to choose my top 3 best dressed, but these three definitely slayed the red carpet this year. Rachel McAdams is wearing an emerald August Getty Atelier gown. High slits have definitely been trending on the red carpet this season. Rooney Mara never disappoints in a lace Givenchy gown, and one who hasn’t been seen on the red carpet in some time is Charlize Theron making a come back in a plunging Dior gown. Check out more stunning looks, trends of the night, and the ones who surprisingly got on my worst dressed list below!

Stunning whites:image

Olivia Wilde was another best dressed of mine in Valentino Houte Couture, also had the best accessories of the night. Priyanka Chopra is wearing a sheer, embellished Zuhair Murad dress, and Lady Gaga looked stunning in a Brandon Maxwell jumpsuit.

Embellished Applique & pastels:image

Cate Blanchett always looks flawless and was another tough one to choose between for best dressed wearing Armani Prive. This wasn’t one of Alicia Vikander’s best looks, but still looked gorgeous in Louis Vuitton resembling Disney’s Belle. Expecting Emily Blunt was glowing in an embellished detail Prada gown.

Sequins on sequins:image

Emerald was another trend of the night, and this was one of Saoirse Ronan’s best looks wearing custom Calvin Klein. The always stunning Margo Robbie wearing an all gold sequined DVF dress. I loved this look on Daisy Ridley in Chanel, but this may not have been the best choice for the Oscars red carpet.

Black Beauties: image

JLaw was another favorite of mine wearing a lace Dior gown. Another one we haven’t seen in awhile is Jennifer Garner wearing Atelier Versace, and Julianne Moore always pulling off Chanel.

The Worst:image

Heidi Klum in Versace has had some major fails on the red carpet lately. She’s so gorgeous, but needs a new stylist. Kerry, Kerry, Kerry…the one who always slays sadly did not tonight, and the biggest disappointment of the night was winner Brie Larson wearing Gucci. The only good thing about this whole look is the belt, which belongs on a different dress.

What were your best and worst dressed of the night?!

Off-the-Shoulder & Flare

image

Two trending items I love right now are off-the-shoulder tops and flare pants. There are so many great basic off-the-shoulder tops to pair with a casual or dressier look. Styling tip: looks best with high-waist bottoms. The top instantly makes any outfit look more chic. I paired my h&m top with these super comfortable bell bottom Pixie Market pants. Styling tip: flares look best with statement heel boots and (moto or bomber) jacket. Shop more off-the-shoulder and flares below!
